Two Diamonds
Opened in 2005 as the first boutique hotel in Syria, Beit Al Mamlouka is a 17th-century house on Al-Bakri Avenue in Bab Touma, the Christian quarter of the Old City: eight rooms and suites named after figures such as Baybars and Ibn Sina, set around a courtyard with citrus trees and a fountain, with painted 18th-century ceilings, a 16th-century archway and a 200-year-old fresco.
